I mean, that's part of being a fan. A non-rational, purely subjective attachment to a team.
But aside from my Maverick fandom, the particular reasons I'm glad I'm not a Utah fan: It's a small-market team that, of all the teams in the NBA, is probably the least likely to attract the kind of free agent(s) necessary to compete for a championship. That makes the team overly-reliant on the draft & player evaluation, with next to no margin for error. And even then, on the rare occasions when the Jazz do strike the right combination of players through the draft, trades, and finding diamonds in the rough, the window for the Jazz to compete is even smaller than it would be for nearly any other NBA team, for the very same reasons its hard to get that right combination in the first place.
