It's promoted to the whole community and not set up as a fundraiser but a race. About thousand people sign up each year and I think the entry fee is around $30-$40. It's all timed and tracked using a chip system, and now that it's been going on for a few years it sells out ever year. The YM and YE have to volunteer on race day as well as help get "goody" bags prepped.
It funds the entire YM/YW program each year (including trips to nauvoo, money for efy for families who can't afford it) with enough left over that a lot has to be donated to charity. It's been so successful that it's now a separate non-profit entity so it doesn't look the Ward has some moneymaking arm.
Takes some work to organize but easily the best fundraiser ever once you get it going. You essentially get the community to pay for youth instead of constantly badgering the members.
