This is true in my experience
Based on experiences with dogs growing up, I would never own a guard dog or any breed that is known to be an aggressive protector.
My other rule of thumb is keep your dog under control (just being on a leash or in your yard may not be enough). Even mellow breeds can react surprisingly aggressive without any history of it if surprised.
