VERY interesting interview with Iowa St. AD.
http://cyclonefanatic.com/podcasts/off-the-record-podcast-w-cw-jamie-pollard/

Starts at about the 13:00 mark ... and the relevant portion ends around 21:30.

He's pretty dismissive about expansion and the candidates in general (I know, quite rich coming from the ISU AD). One thing that he says though hits home ... for a school like ISU, it's all about the GOR extension (i.e. an existential issue for a school like ISU). Are we looking at a situation where the deal is: The other 8 schools have agreed to vote to expand as long as OU and TX agree to extend the GOR for the conference ... and for that, OU gets to chose one school and UT gets to choose one school? This is pure speculation on my part. If the Big12 does indeed expand by 2 and extends their GOR then they're in this for the long play. If they expand by 4 with no GOR expansion, then this (as many have said, including Tramel, Dodd, etc ...) is a money grab before the imminent dissolution of being poached in 2024. In EITHER event, BYU will be better positioned for the future by acquiring P5 status.

Anyways, it's pretty obvious that he's VERY in the dark about the whole process ... which is pretty awesome IMO.

I think the 10 University Presidents have been very good at keeping their plans/votes very private. There may be blood oaths required to get in those President's only meetings they've had. No wonder they required a quorum be present at this recent extra meeting in Dallas.

The other cool thing is that this is probably why the Big12 beat writers and national CFB media have been so off in predicting what the Big12 has done/will do. These writers talk to coaches and players and maybe ADs. They aren't tight with University Presidents or their staff and so they don't truly have sources to draw upon.
