Too lazy to provide a detailed answer. But here is a serious reason
Think about what happens when college football moves to 4 super conferences of 16 teams. There are currently 5 P5 conferences. Is the B12 likely to be one of the 4 super conferences? I don't think so. They're the least stable. So OU and Texas would most likely leave for one of the 4 super conferences
