scramble out of trouble, pick up the first downs better than risking the future of BYU football.
Tanner could probably do just about as good as Taysom ...maybe better.
BUT....what if under Tanner...we beat Utah and Tanner came out of that game dinged up. Let's say he starts against UCLA and because of his discipline he wants to show his NFL and Heisman coach he can hang in the pocket (of which a porous Oline can not create against superior teams like the ones we just played) ...and let's say we even beat UCLA and our record stands at an incredible 3-0, we are ranked, Yay!, but we just lost Tanner for the season due to a shoulder injury.
You willing to trade that? I'm not...and who knows, I don't know that would happen. But what if the coaches are planning for the future (crazy I know) and long term success of the program, and know that because of Taysoms size he can weather the storm better, has equal chance of being successful, and we don't risk the future of the entire program and golden boy in the process.
Let's give our coaches some credit for having some smarts and can plan and think ahead for the benefit and success of the program and it's individual players.
