Part of it is that the recruits fit the system. Part of it is coaching. And of course there are several other factors. It is a little depressing to consider a top 35 recruiting class (a la 2010) is about BYU's ceiling... but it's encouraging to know that schools that are historically in the 30-50 range have done quite well (see Wisconsin, Michigan State, Utah). And there have been plenty of teams that are regularly sniffing NY6 games that have lower rated recruiting classes (see Boise State, Baylor, Cincy and Houston). If BYU can consistently field teams in the 20-40 sagarin range off of recruiting classes in the 50-70 range it is conceivable that improving the talent to the 30-50 range could result in teams consistently ranking at least 5-10 places higher (so 10-30... or consistently ranked). I'd take that.
