B12 Deserves to Blow Up
This whole process was drawn out WAAAY too long and was TOO public. The B1G was virtually silent on candidates for 6 months. Except for Chip Brown's leak, the PAC's entire plan almost went under the radar. Neither conference asked for 20 applications. The ACC also added Pitt and Syracuse rather quietly AND quickly.

The biggest problem that happened here was the Big 12 was too public. Clear back in January it should have done research on all the schools and quietly did what they have wasted the past 8 weeks on. Bowlsby could have had a list of schools to take IF there would be a network and a list WITHOUT a network. After the mid-July meeting, the presidents then could have quickly made their decision within a week. This process caused the candidate schools to bring the knives out and invited outside lobby groups like Texas politics and Athlete Ally to influence the decisions.

This whole unfolding of events reveals how disorganized and divided the conference is. The reality of the situation is I don't think the Presidents ever had a plan. They just saw dollar signs, upset Fox and ESPN, then went into this drawn out process. If it does not expand then this will have been a huge waste of time and resources and the B12 will look terrible, as it should. I really don't see the conference surviving after this kind of embarrassment.

Memo to ISU and KSU student governments: be proud of making yourself irrelevant. If you have to go indy or end up in the American I bet you will change your tune about BYU and will want to schedule us.
