I think it will become clear in the next couple of years that religious intolerance had nothing to do with
the B12's decision to stay at 10 teams.

Had they expanded and taken two or four teams and left us out, it would be obvious that religious bigotry was the answer (and more likely the bigotry would have been from outside the B12 - the Pres of the B12 would have decided that they didn't want to deal with our haters so they passed on us).

But they didn't take anyone, and I'm convinced that it's because significant realignment is coming and they feel it's better to head into that with their current 10 teams.
