POWER rankings look beyond simple rankings and take into account things like...

Strength of schedule. And it looks beyond things like a single game - a narrow home win against a diminishing Boise State. They are much more predictive. I've watched the Sagarin ever since it had a #5 ranked Iowa about on the same level as BYU that year. Normal ranking would have had a big Iowa win in the Holiday bowl that year. The actual result: 13 -13 tie.
