That doesn't seem consistent with Utah Statutes. .
I don't practice criminal law, but the statutes (describing criminal mischief) seem to focus on either damaging the property of another, or your own if you are trying to defraud insurance.

Nothing seems to indicate that you can't break your own stuff (like your own doors). If I'm wrong, I'd be interested in reading up on it.
