We are all mortal, and thus prone to mortal errors, flaws, shortcomings, and what have you. If I die of cancer, instead of God giving me the trial, I think it's more likely that my mortal and imperfect body threw an error, and God says, "Let me give you a hand with that." That may mean healing, it may mean that the body is too broken, so he has mercy on me and puts me out of my misery.
If it's something that one person does to another, then that is pretty much 100% due to the mortal flaws of the perpetrator. God can help to quell the pain of the experience, but he can't stop a person from making a decision and still be God, even if that decision is to hurt another person.
I also don't believe that God dictates for us what we should do in our life, such as who we should marry, if we should by a house, stuff like that. He will help us to know how to be happy with the decisions we make, and he helps us to determine which choices will lead us to the greatest amount of happiness. But I don't believe that he says, "You're family needs to move to...". I think he allows us to make decisions and comforts us when we have anxiety or questions about the decision.
