I guess I'm not sure I'm understanding what you think is so crazy about it?
To me, it approaches reality much more than most "time travel" movies.
It's a little outside the box of typical cliches to connect linguistics and neurology to the human perception of time, but it's actually based on a little more science than the ol' flux capacitor.
