all of the same advantages/disadvantages (Indy, HC, tight wallet, etc) each year, some folks' expectations for a "successful" BYU season somehow get ramped up to include some variation/combination of the following (among others) as bare minimum watermarks:
*Going undefeated
*Being a Top 5 team
*Having a record-setting offense
*Having a record-setting defense
*Going to an NY6 game
*Getting to the CFP
*Smashing Utah
It's pretty safe to say we all want BYU to win every friggin' game, every friggin' year and want to see them win a NC again but the chances of it coming to pass are about as good as the "realist fans'" chances of ever being satisfied or happy. From what I can see on both accounts, those odds aren't great.
If a BYU fan can't see 9 wins in a HC's first year with all the variables changing that did in '16 as a success, then I'm not sure how to help them.
