I think it is especially bad in the church.
Mormon women in general are especially bad. They think they need to "righteous" their way out of it. As if it is connected to how worthy they are. This leads to more guilt, which makes it worse.

I'm not in any way trying to remove the Atonement of Jesus Christ from the ability to heal them. I truly feel that the medical advances of our day, for both mental and physical health, are a tender mercy from our Father in Heaven, and utilizing proper care appropriately is an act of faith. The enabling power of the atonement can bear us up to shoulder our burdens and make them lighter, but that doesn't eliminate the need for proper medical treatment.

The problem too often with men, is that they just ignore it, and act like they don't have a problem. Or just put on a strong face and so that they don't look weak. But it definitely is an equal opportunity disease.
