RE: Cougarboard does need to take a look at itself if i'm being honest.
"So why CB even tries to defend itself against allegations that it censors and severely moderates its users more so than is considered normal or healthy or even right....i dont get it."

The universe of the internet, esp internet message boards, is vast. There is literally a place you can discuss anything you want, in any style or tone you want, from a close family member's blog, to 4chan, reddit, dailykos or redstate. NO one on earth, except maybe North Koreans, should feel restricted or censored.

As a board that caters to sports lovers, but who are primarily LDS, Jefe wants to keep complaints or negativity about the church to a minimum. it's totally understandable. Not only because he himself is LDS but from a business perspective, offending those who are is risky to his niche.

"ps i love parts of cb. I love that i received tips on home mortgages and lawn mower repair recently. Love the sports talk and the news and interesting topics....but i have had moments where i felt like i was in first grade getting a suspension for being negative or making a joke...and I have to roll my eyes and remember that its cougarboard i'm dealing with...Wish it were better that way. We'll see if this post even lasts. lol."

I'm not telling you how to think, but consider for a moment that the board is pleasant and enjoyable for those other topics precisely because it is moderated tightly.

I'm not LDS. I did not go to BYU. I do love sports and (despite what some folks think) enjoy talking about sports (I just don't usually have any takes that are worthy of posting....). But as a woman who spends a lot of time online, most places I could visit are cesspools, both in content and in language. Seriously. I would NEVER have a discussion about a home mortgage or lawn mower on those sites.

If the "cost" of such conversation, is a tighter control on what can and cannot be said about the church that most members here support, so be it. I will make that trade off every time. (I can always gripe to my neighbor about the church if I absolutely need to....)
