I didn't say you discredited him. And the LBs I just used to point
out good players in general who weren't NFL guys. They weren't relevant to the discussion in any other way. Should have clarified.

Tuiaki couldn't continue something from someone who left 4 years earlier. That's a players' full career. Way too big of a gap for him to be relevant anymore. But Tuiaki was a position coach, for the DL, which is the subject of the thread. The relevance kinda speaks for itself doesn't it? Which means he was involved in the recruitment of several very good players to go through Utah, and oversaw the coaching and development of both those guys and players in the system. Sitake vouching for him says a lot. The award recognition associated with him speaks for itself. His position development at every stop speaks for itself.

Plus, Tuiaki's first year as DC speaks for itself, with someone else's recruits from a different scheme.

Sitake moving Tuiaki to the DL this year as part of phasing Kaufusi out is important for the future. Clearly the plan all along, especially with Tuiaki manning the line. Clear emphasis is on the trenches, just like they did at Utah.

Completely disagree with bigbrother that this can't be consistent. What evidence is there that it won't be? These two guys have an enormous presence in the Poly community. And locally, what the state can do best is produce some linemen. There's no reason they won't continue to win many in-state battles. I'm confused at how they did it in their first full class as coaches yet as time goes on it will die off. That makes no sense.

Yes they'll have mission guys, but they'll get it worked out to have it offset correctly. Like I said, doesn't mean Utah won't still get their recruits. But there's no reason BYU won't. Not only is not every DL recruit a head-to-head battle with Utah, but there are plenty of others they'll get. The recruiting pool actually suits BYU better than 3-4.
