There should be concern, but in today's football you don't get 4-5 seasons
To figure things out or implement your system. The great ones have an immediate impact in year one, the good ones year two is a noticeable leap forward, and the rest just never get better and eventually have to move on.
I love detmer, he's who first grabbed my attention with BYU athletics and the Mormon church. I really want him to succeed, but if this season isn't a noticeable leap forward, my expectations moving forward are lessened and turn from hope to now just not wanting him to tarnish his legacy with the program. And not that he could with me, or other fans who actually remember him playing, but for the next generation of fans who only remember him from stories told, old clips on BYUtv and now his coaching.
