Mika wasn't happy with something at BYU. There was so much anticipation for the LP3 to return and make some noise, and accomplish HUGE program goals. It's hard to fathom now what has happened. A dumpster fire first season together culminating with the best of the three leaving the program two years early only to go undrafted. I don't think I could have drawn up a worse scenario for LP3 and coach Rose.
Sure, he's 23, but he went undrafted, so he's back to square one. Something drove Mika out. There are all kinds of opinions out there. Rose's system, lack of discipline and accountability from teammates, bad chemistry, in-fighting, etc... It could be all of the above. I'm just saying that IMO Mika didn't just say, "I love the situation here. I love the system, Love my HS teammates, but I'm old and I'm leaving. No, something was messed up there for him and he felt he needed to get out.
I think if he loved the system and had faith in a WCC title and at least a sweet 16 run he would be back. A chance to showcase his skills on a national level. But I think he just saw a program in disarray, with games at Pacific and Pepperdine, and not a lot of hope for his progression. All my opinion of course. Whether you are 23 or 24 at this point is really not that big of factor all things considered.
