If you look at Golden States best lineup (with green at the 5) that lineup scores most of its points in the paint. They set screens and use cutters/ passing to get easy dunks.
IMO that is one of the big misconceptions about small ball. The extra spacing means uncontested layups since defenders can't help at the rim because they are too spread out.
Putting Mika on the perimeter doesn't mean turning him into a shooter--it just means using him as a screen setter who can then roll to the basket for a layup/dunk or kickoff to an open shooter.
