The games against deeper, more talented teams takes it's toll on a team (with actual serious injuries and lots of bumps and bruises that compound). That is why Kalani needs to build as much depth as he can. We would need to build that depth if we were playing a full conference schedule in a P5 conference. Even the struggling P5 teams have bigger, faster athletes that take a toll on a team throughout a 60 minute game.
From just a % standpoint, it is clear that we are right there with them and the real differentiation is in our head to head match-ups, but I think the fact they have played 60-ish P5 games to our 18 can't be discounted.
