ol' Blue Eyes All-American
Only once...I let a friend convince me to join him at a startup. Our friendship
clouded my better judgement. That was the only time I look back and think that I made the wrong choice. Usually, if you've been at a company for 5 years or more, you have a good idea of what you can expect from a company and if you're feeling like you need to move...there's probably good reason.

Also, if your daughter thinks you're home early at 6:00 PM...that's not good. How can you ever be involved in their life? Having dinner together. Doing Tee-ball? Learning to ride bikes? Doing YM/YW activities? You miss a lot if you're not there in the evening. And what is most important?

One job I had, I had to travel a lot...every week. I was typically up at 5:00 AM to catch an early flight and then return catching the 5:00 PM flight and was usually home before kids were going to bed. After a while it seemed, the wife and kids had their life and I had mine and we just happen to sleep in the same house. One Saturday, my wife headed out the door and I asked where she was going and why doesn't she stay home cause I hadn't seen her and the kids all week. Her response hit me like a ton of bricks: "I don't know what you have going on today but we've made plans." It made me realize I wasn't a part of their life and made the decision then and there I needed to find a different job.
