Tournaments every weekend?
Most teams I see play 4 or 5 tournaments, a spring/summer league, and a fall league. That's a lot of time, but tournaments every weekend would be nuts.

Any of you have kids that are competitive swimmers? Looks like my third child

The time v. reward ratio is high on this one.

Indeed. The summer swim meets take hours and hours for seconds of swimming

I don't see how wasting all day at a swim meet is going to help her get better

FWIW, girls who are really good as 8 yo are rarely amazing as high schoolers.

Agree with this. Especially for girls. A really good female swimmer

Yes. I also found that the time to reward ratio was, in the end, frustrating.

Does it consumer your life more than other competitive sports?

My daughter started year round swim at 8. I think it's easier than summer swim

Oh, and it's freaking expensive. Seriously. Dues this year (at 9yo) are $1850
