Coming from predominantly Mormon, middle class, suburban, white bread families, we undoubtedly have a higher percentage of freshmen with sweet band skills than any one else in the world. We could have a kickbooty band if we gave them the resources and permission.

Instead, our band is big and bland. There's absolutely nothing distinctive about them. As proof, I offer every defense of the band posted on CB over the last decade. Band-boys always tell us how many awards they've received for musicality but never brag about them being a fan favorite.

We have the capacity to have a great band, but settle for boring and safe.
