I've refrained from posting on conference affiliation for a long time.
When the B12 decided not to expand it came with great disappointment and much surprise to the BYU AD. They truly were expecting to join, not from a baseless hope, but from actual conversations.

While eating ribs, crepes and scones, I frequently chat with other Legacy members in the pre-game tent prior to the home games (Sometimes during halftime). I can tell you from personal knowledge that it would be highly distasteful to many, likely a great majority of boosters, if BYU were to join a G5 conference.

Our future schedules are much more preferable than any G5 schedule. Much effort and money has been put into those schedules. Also, It would be a headache and a disservice to ESPN to break those agreements simply for a G5 membership. There is no clause in the contracts which allows the canceling of the series or games for G5 membership transition.

There is a possibility of a configured conference type affiliation as a fallback plan if BYU ends up in a bad position in 2024. NOTHING will happen until then unless something drastic and unexpected arises, like for example, Baylor being expelled (but that's not happening).

You can wait till you're blue in the face, but everyone should know of BYU's destiny by 2023.

Enjoy independence. 1. It's a unique time in the program 2. It's not changing anytime soon.

As for Sitaki, he'll get his minimum four years. Let's hope he rights the ship that he himself veered off course. At this point, our independent status is NOT related to Sitaki's or the teams' performance.
