Detmer was a terrible hire as an OC...
bringing him on as a QB to let him grow and develop would have been a better decision if Detmer was that wanted.
As Lavell said about the Detroit Lions wanting Lavell to coach for them... there are 2 type of coaches, coaches that are being fired and coaches about to be fired. If you hired Detmer believing you can't fire him because of his legacy, then it was an awful hire. You can't afford to let anyone to be bigger than the program.
