FWIW, BYU played 14 games in Crowton's first year, in which he only played two P5 opponents (Cal and Missisppi St.) plus Nevada, Utah St., and Hawaii in the OOC games (only 7 MWC games at the time, with no TCU) and had inherited Doak Walker award winner Luke Staley. Crowton's second year of coaching had a 5-7 record, despite only P5 opponents. 2-5 MWC record in 2002. No Staley.
