High-dividend paying stocks is a bit too broad IMO.

And likely too risky. There are all sorts of stocks that pay high dividends. i think a general rule is to get into very safe stuff for most people at retirement. Meaning lots of bonds and very safe stock if any. Of course this depends partly on how much you have and how much you need for your own expenses.
