This year our offense has been an unmitigated disaster. There's no denying that. But Ty showed last year that he can do good things when he has great players. We have no playmakers this year (except maybe Bushman). Last year, we established a good identity as an efficient, ball control, rushing offense. Then we lost all of our leaders on offense and were left without a half-decent running back.
*18th in time of possession last year. On par with Michigan, Stanford, and Ohio State. You think maybe that has a little bit to do with how well our defense did last year?

*3rd in red zone offense last year. Total yards isn't as important in this offense as how long you hold onto the ball and how efficient you are when you get into the red zone.

*12th in third down conversion last year.

*41st in rushing offense

Can we at least stop pretending that the offense had nothing to do with a fairly solid season last year and our wins over Arizona, Toledo, Michigan State, Mississippi State, and Wyoming? We have definitely seen potential. That's why I'm still being patient and giving Ty the benefit of the doubt. I'm not making excuses for the offense this year though. It needs to be better.
