you might laugh, but would never live in AZ without a cat...they are killers
I lived on the very edge of the desert in the Tucson area and the cats would kill at least 2-3 per week. Beautiful desert, but you pay a price

One of the lab techs who worked at my grad school lost a young grandson to a scorpion sting in AZ. They're bad news.
