and confirmed much of what is said here about the “laid back” atmosphere. He became friends with a current player who served his mission in his ward. He went to the MSU game and stayed at the team hotel. Said player told him there is no leadership, no one wants to step up, and there are players who will play 95% of one game, and then somehow not play a snap the next one. He said it gives the impression the coaches don’t know what they’re doing, both offense and defense.
The access that people have to the players at the team hotel is unheard of. My brother-in-law walked into the conference room, granted it was with said player, but just sat down and watched the Syracuse-Clemson game with about a dozen other players. A coach that won’t be named walked into the room while he was there and thought nothing of it. He said it’s the most laid-back atmosphere he has ever seen.
