Were you ever an aggressive tackler who became soft because the coach was mild
mannered or wasn't in your face constantly? Did you ever drop passes because your coach showed what you did wrong and not demeaned you for a physical mistake?
Wrong assignments and mental mistakes are signs of lack of concentration or focus. These are coaching issues.
If the captains either allow or are allowed to be lackadaisical or be laid back on the field and not producing, then they should be talked to and then replaced with a player who gets it right.
