But my take is that it has been a combination of
1). Decent execution of a bad play call (e.g. draw on 3rd and 8 for 5 yards).
2). BAD execution of a bad play call. (Wildcat for no gain or loss).
3). When the play call for a pass is timely and good, if the receiver gets open, Tanner muffs it and over throws or under throws. Receiver then does not trust Tanner and becomes frustrated after being open and overlooked.
4). When the play call for a pass is timely and good, the receiver runs the wrong route/cannot beat the coverage so Tanner has to throw the ball to a check route for minimal gain. In turn Tanner loses confidence in the receiver to get open.
5). OR, When the play call for a pass is timely and good, the receiver runs the wrong route/cannot beat the coverage and Tanner muffs it and over throws or under throws. Trust issues then abound.
6). Bust a 7 yard run and then fumble the ball.
7). Just run out of bounds and lose 4 yards if you cannot find an open man 15 yards away in the end zone. Get knocked on your can by a 115 lbs water boy who only eats Carolina BBQ and Cheetos in his dorm room.
So it's like a boat with 7 big leaks. Even when you plug a few of them, the boat still leaks.
