In my opinion both schools got who they needed at the time. Bronco cleaned up a program up while winning and Whit stayed in a program and kept winning.

I do not believe that Whit could have or would have cleaned up the program. Take a look at his recruiting at the UU with misfits from other programs, who have had run ins with the law and his turning his head to players choices that would be honor code violations at the Y (narcotics, alcohol, etc.).

Remember Whit's father while being a good coach, had run ins with BYU coaches and administration. It came to a head where Edwards was told to let him go.

Again IMO: both schools got the coach they needed at the time. But your source has some incorrect information as to why Whit didn't end up at BYU.
