As for last season…media was definitely looking for a reason not to give Jokic a 3rd in a row and I’d say Jokic kinda gave it to them. Nuggets were so far ahead they took their foot off the gas and that gave voters the excuse to pick Embiid. Believe Jokic even said he didn’t want it..or at least that he didn’t care.

It does kinda suck that past performance gets considered. There is probably a lot of voters that feel like they messed up picking Embiid last year and are going to pick Jokic this year because of it.

In a perfect world each season would be considered separately and we wouldn’t be influenced by past seasons or playoffs.
