For those asking why the Big 10 or SEC would do this...here's why:
If you undermine the sport nationally you will only hurt yourself in the long run. And that is what is currently being done. The sport is being ruined. If only 25 teams have access the fans of all the other schools will eventually lose interest. If half of all college football fans lose interest the money pot will decrease by half. No one with any foresight who is involved in college football wants that to happen.
