Les IsMore All-American
As a retired computer scientist I long ago found that work goals are meaningless
Most work goals are weak attempts by managers desperately trying to maintain the pretence that they have some relevant technical knowledge, rather than admitting that they were moved to management because their technical skills were sorely lacking.

When that type of manager asked me for my goals, I just chuckled to myself thinking that my goal was to avoid having her job... spending most of the day in boring unproductive meetings, coming up with engineering and developer schedules completely unrelated to reality, practicing using the latest buzzwords (from short internet searches) to impress all her Peter Principled peers, etc... all while worried that her flunky, Les Ismore, will once again make her look foolish by asking an actual technical question, or by completing and demoing that new language localization feature in two weeks instead of the 18 months she just promised her Peter Principled boss.
