I never drink but love to tailgate
So I fully disagree with you. First, there are few places I would rather spend a fall afternoon day than on a college campus. For all the praise the beauty of byu's campus and the setting of LES get on this board, I would assume you can understand why we enjoy to be outside in such nice settings above being at home.

Second, we make food, play football, and spend time with family, friends, and loved ones. And, with as passionate as we are about football be near the stadium with other fans makes the excitement of the day last all day long.

When we go to other stadiums we get the opportunity to meet and interact with other fans from other schools, which increases the enjoyment of the trip. At Oregon this year we spent an hour with some people who we just happened to walk by, eating food and talking about football. We shared stories of stadiums we'd traveled to and had a great time that we would have missed showing up 30 minutes before kickoff.

Nothing my wife and I do at tailgate parties has anything to do with drinking, or is even contradictory to my LDS values. So, I think you are missing the point.
