Some of the untold stories re: BYU/honor code
A few untold stories about what the exposure BYU basketball has given to the church and recruiting in general the past few months.....

Since the Brandon Davies story played out on the national scene, BYU has received some attention from others wanting to know more about BYU.

1. A non LDS woman who watched the Davies story unfold, was so impressed by what BYU did, that she sent a check to BYU. I was told it wasn't a small check either.

2. BYU football has received several contacts from non-LDS high school players and parents wanting BYU to recruit them now. One of the players is supposedly a sought after linebacker, another is a high profile QB prospect in the 2013 class out of california. Apparently the father of this QB called BYU directly and asked them to recruit his son since his son is a religious kid and likes the values he heard about re: the Davies story.
When the BYU recruiter met the kid, he asked the recruiter why he is a coach at BYU. The recruiter basically bore his testimony to the kid. The kid responded " no coach has ever told me that and that's what I wanted to hear." I think BYU stands a good chance on landing this kid now.

If you were to only listen to sports radio personalities in utah only (or deadspin), you get the impression that no non-LDS kid would ever want to come to BYU BECAUSE of the honor code. That simply is not correct. Not every kid wants to go to college, drink themselves into oblivion and chase skirts for 4 years and have the "college experience."

A few non LDS kids on the football team right now, came to BYU BECAUSE they liked the honor code, lived by its principles before coming to BYU, and wanted to continue to be around those principles.

A LOT of kids, LDS AND non-LDS, want to live by those principles as well.

So here's to rebutting SOME of the local radio talking heads!!
