beer dumpers, jello sacrament shots, vulgar/anti-religion comments, etc. If you or any of the coaches or 10,000 LDS students you are boasting about can't be the vocal majority over the thuggery/filth that is the crowd being heard then I guess you are just weak sauce.
Here is some advice to those that wish to change the perception of their fan base. RISE UP and be more vocal than the filth. Police your fans and talk with them about what is appropriate and what is not. Help them see that they can be a fan of their own team rather than just on board because it opposes the other side...It honestly would be very refreshing but unlikely to happen.
I don't know if it is true but I heard reports that protesting outside the conference center this year was way down on Saturday. Someone joked that it was because Utah had a home football game and all the usual suspects were at the game instead. Likely just a bit of humor but the public perception of much of the Utah fan base (which you are choosing to ignore) makes it believable.
