Correction: I have personally spoken with multiple older Utah alumni that confirmed Ute fans have been making the "U" symbol for decades, going back to before Miami changed their helmets and branding in 1973 as a public relations move. It is impossible that it was ripped off from Miami as it supersedes their use by many years. Also, Utah has been known as "the U" for at least 100 years, which is longer than the University of Miami has even existed. The facts are all on Utah's side in this one, but cougarboard is dead set on perpetuating the myth that Utah somehow ripped off Miami's use of "the U" and forming a U with their hands.
