all about preserving tradition and the welfare of college football... there are a couple of points that bear consideration...
Conference realignment is presented on cougarboard as a problem... yeah a problem because BYU is left out. No one denies that BYU tried mightily to be included in the realignment mix. If realignment is such a problem, why did BYU try so hard to be included? Oh, right realignment is only a problem when BYU is excluded.
Dropping the rivalry is presented on cougarboard as a problem... yeah a problem because BYU is being left behind. BYU had no such problem when it was dropping traditional basketball and football rivalries with Utah State. But, of course, then Utah State didn't help BYU advance its goals of being a national power.
Cougar Nation's pleas for the preservation of the purity of college athletics would be more credible if they weren't so obviously based in envy and self-interest rather than a highminded concern for the welfare of college athletic.
