Saw a moose in YNP about five years ago in the far north end of the park but

Haven't seen one in the park since and it was 25ish years before that when I saw the last one. Sometimes in the late fall I heard you can see a few in Lamar Valley. They are frequently sighted in and around the Mack's Inn area of Island park however.

My guess is it drowned. Thrashing around like that it probably took in a lung full once submerged.

What's equally surprising that the bear killed it, is the fact that those sharp antlers didn't mortally wound the bear.

I think you’re right about the leg. But as for Yellowstone’s elk population, I’m pretty sure it was up a bit this year.
