Laminate is easy to do yourself. You could probably do it for $5-8k including
the cost of a miter saw and table saw if you don't already have them.
My wife and her friend did about 800 square feet in a previous home in one afternoon without any previous experience and it looked great.

Depends on if you want the cabinets on top of the tile or not. Ours are not.

I didn't remove the cabinets, made sure the tile was up to the under part of the toe guard & sealed off with the grout.
