Not to mention agriculture (even in US), hospitality, garment production, etc
Everyone is high on virtue and condemnation when it is a world away and not perceived to be connected to anything they contribute to, but nobody wants to confront it when it is closer to home and benefitting them.
People would do well to consider that. All that stuff you put under your Christmas Tree, the food on your table for Thanksgiving, and the family cruise during winter break probably involved someone being treated the same or worse all over the world. But, as long as it is their toys and their food and their travel and it is cheap enough... they can direct their outrage elsewhere.
Too many people in this country really don't really have the experience or context to fully appreciate the degree to which their western lifestyle and concept of poverty and work is the exception, not the rule, on a global and historical level.
