Some were. Most weren't.

While the stakes are higher for these poor young men from the fringes of poverty, every single job I've taken except for two have involved significant broken promises.

I've been to these migrant worker towns. I've never been to the US border, but if I believe what I've read on CougarBoard, I'm almost certain living conditions are significantly worse on the US border. Those are broken promises that we as US residents can probably do more about than clicking around to find support for our ideologies.
