Clarkson was great for Utah last season, but his level of play really fell of a cliff this year. Was definitely not worth the $23 million we paid him this season (though he likely earned that contract the previous year). Luckily his salary comes down a bit thee next couple seasons.
The move the Jazz made to bring in Collins was a gamble that I don't think paid off for them and in hindsight wasn't a good move IMO. Sure, we didn't have to give up much by way of assets to get him, but he commands a large salary that has severely limited cap flexibility the Jazz would have without him on the roster. And with a player option in 2025-2026, we could be stuck with that albatross of a contract for 2 more seasons.
