Both Minnesota and Cleveland are improved and the Jazz have missed the playoffs, and don't seem anywhere close to getting back to where they were during the best years of the Mitchell/Gobert combination. All those assets they received are looking like late round picks, and they'll probably end up being tossed in to move up a spot or two or whatnot. I don't see the Jazz being a contender anywhere in the next several years unless they get lucky in the draft.

I'm not sure they had a choice but to clean house, given that Mitchell wanted out and the Gobert situation as well, but teams win in this league with star players and not solid ensemble casts, and the Jazz are significantly weaker on that front.
