As a minority at BYU, I've experienced what it's like to feel like an outsider even when you share 95% of the same traits as those around you. Have you ever been in a class where you're the only person of your color? A store? Ever felt the awkward silence after having walked into a group a people speaking derogatorily about your race?

LDS families feel the same when they are scoping places to work after college. They want to move to a community where there are other LDS.

Having those around you that share the same traits is socially valuable. Having someone of the same persuasion as a mentor is invaluable.

I know I'm speaking to a wall here, but there's a value, and you trying to discount hurts only you.
