Independence has failed at producing a better product on the field than being in the old MWC. We have an opportunity to be more relevant and get our brand out there if we are a winning program. The extra $ for Independence is creating better exposure and viceversa, but we're not producing on the field, which is damaging the BYU brand. Fans come when we win and when we play good teams. If we go G5 we can still try to sweeten the front of our schedule with good P5 schools and continue to play MWC teams that we're playing now. Our home schedule will not be that much different. We'll have 2 quality opponents up front, plus either a BSU or USU game at home each year, which will draw in fans and revenue. Being the big dog in the MWC will put us in the Top 25 regularly, giving us better national press.
CONS to this pitch:
* We become a west coast school rather than traveling to other areas
* Some programs may not schedule us because we've accepted G5 status
* TV deals are killer outside of P5 and independence
